PROGRAM
Beginning at 10 a.m., refreshments (light snacks, coffee, etc.) will be available. We will start the workshop promptly at 10:30 a.m.
In order to maximize discussion, the author(s) will not give presentations. Instead, they may offer brief introductory comments, and then we will open the floor to questions. Participants are expected to have read the papers so that virtually all of the time can be devoted to Q&A. Links to the papers are below.
10:30 a.m.: Matt Green (Catholic): "'We’re Ungovernable': The Historical Origins of Republican Disunity in the U.S. House of Representatives"
11:30 a.m.: Breanna Gray (Maryland): "The Restrictive Special Rule Revolution in the U.S. House of Representatives"
12:30 p.m.: Lunch
1:15 p.m.: Maraam Dwidar (Georgetown) and Herschel Thomas (UT-Austin): "The Limits of the Revolving Door"
2:15 p.m.: Brandon Bartels (GW) and Eric Kramon (GW): "Election Outcomes, Dobbs, and Public Support for Judicial Power"
DIRECTIONS AND TRANSPORTATION
The meeting will be held in Room 940 of the the Bloomberg Center, Johns Hopkins University's building in DC (555 Pennsylvania Avenue NW). This is the former Newseum. You may need to present identification to enter the building.
Parking and Metro information is here. The Bloomberg Center is a 5-minute walk from the Archives Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter Station (Green/Yellow lines) and less than 15 minutes from stations on the Red, Blue, Orange, and SIlver lines.
For drivers, the site says: "Paid street parking is available and several parking garages are located within walking distance of our building."
