PROGRAM
Beginning at 10 a.m., refreshments (light snacks, coffee, etc.) will be available. We will start the workshop promptly at 10:30 a.m.
In order to maximize discussion, the author(s) will not give presentations. Instead, they may offer brief introductory comments, and then we will open the floor to questions. Participants are expected to have read the papers so that virtually all of the time can be devoted to Q&A.
10:30 a.m.: Hans Noel (Georgetown) and Rachel Blum (Oklahoma): "Cooperating Factions: A Network Analysis of Party Divisions in U.S. Presidential Nominations" [This links to a full book manuscript, but please read Chapters 1 and 2 as well as Hans and Rachel's note on the first page.]
11:30 a.m.: Vanessa Williamson (Brookings): "The People's Money, The People's Power" [This links to two chapters from a book manuscript. Please read Chapters 5 and 6 as well as Vanessa's note on the first page.]
12:30 p.m.: Lunch
1:15 p.m.: Johanna Dunaway (Syracuse) and Bradley Madsen (Texas A&M): "Legislative Responsiveness and Local Media Declines"
2:15 p.m.: Michael Hankinson (GW): "Racial Demographic Change Increases Support for Voters’ Veto Power Over Affordable Housing"
DIRECTIONS AND TRANSPORTATION
The meeting will be held in the main conference room at the American Political Science Association headquarters in Dupont Circle (1527 New Hampshire Avenue NW). If memory serves, there is a buzzer at the front entrance, which you'll need to push to be admitted to the building.
For drivers
Street parking is limited in Dupont, but there are a few parking garages within a 5-minute walk of APSA.
For Metro-ers
Take the Red Line to the Dupont Circle station and use the north exit. Enjoy the long escalator. Walk east on Q Street, and turn right on New Hampshire Avenue.
